Title: Level 3 – Truck/Trailer Shop Technician

We are a family-owned we are looking for In-shop Technicians for the truck & trailer shop looking for a company to build a career with. This position handles the complete repair and general maintenance of semi-trucks & trailers in the petroleum industry, as well as, all other styles and sizes of trailers. We are looking for someone detail oriented, strong mechanical aptitude, and a strong work ethic.

Position Summary: Experienced repair level position in the truck and trailer maintenance field for the petroleum industry with on the job training and a willingness to learn. Perform inspections, repair, and installation of equipment on Refined Fuel and LP delivery trucks, trailers, and company owned equipment

  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Previous class 4-8 truck and trailer chassis repair experience a plus
  • Previous experience with DOT inspections
  • Previous refined fuel or propane maintenance experience/certifications
  • Have worked on air equipment
  • Experience/Understanding of 12 Volt systems
  • Welding and metal fabrication experience
  • Good judgment and the ability to use hand power tools to operate other machinery safely required.
  • Fleet or shop maintenance experience
  • Communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • GED or High School Diploma
  • Willingness to jump in and help out where needed
  • Honesty and respect
  • Familiar with Technology and Maintenance council recommended practices

Tools:

  • Set hand tools – sockets/ratchet, hand wrenches for basic mechanical duties
  • Large tools and job specific tools will be provided

 

On the Job Training:

  • Refined Fuel and LP inspections
  • Plumbing of refined fuels and LP gas systems
  • Basic air system controls
  • Manufacture certifications
  • DOT inspection training
  • Meter calibration certification
  • Safety considerations on the job
  • Career advancement

Specific Duties:

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair and install equipment on customer trucks and trailers
  • Assist in maintaining company owned equipment and maintain shop equipment
  • Cuts, threads and fits pipes.
  • Some travel may be required to customer sites
  • Assist outside oil equipment mechanic; occasional overnight if necessary.
  • Completes work orders, accurately describing work performed and material used, recording serial numbers, etc.
  • Operate material handling and company owned vehicles.
  • Heavy lifting and bending required.
  • Wearing of safety equipment, and maintain safe working environment
  • Miscellaneous duties as they occur within the business
  • Communicate with the parts department to obtain needed parts.
  • Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy in accordance with dealership and factory standards on all styles of trailers as assigned.
  • Consult immediately with the Service Advisor if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the time promised.
  • Advise Service Advisor of any problems: parts hold ups, sublet repair needs, or other changes that may affect the promise time.
  • Ensure that customer’s trailers are kept clean.
  • Keep shop area neat and clean.
  • Adhere to work schedule and maintain regular attendance.
